About the Green Party
The Green Party is about to enter a very exciting new phase in its history: the first ever Green MP is on course to be elected to Parliament. Party Leader Caroline Lucas is standing in Brighton and Hove, and there are other strong Green candidates in Norwich, Cambridge, and Lewisham. When we enter Westminster as MPs at this General Election, our voice will at last be heard, and support for the Party at all levels of government is likely to accelerate.
The Green Party isn’t just another political party. Green politics is of a new and radical kind, guided by simple but fundamental principles:
- Humankind depends on the diversity of the natural world for its existence. We do not believe that other species are expendable.
- The Earth's physical resources are finite. We threaten our future if we try to live beyond those means, so we must build a sustainable society that guarantees our long-term future.
- Our actions should take account of the well-being of other nations, other species, and future generations. We should not pursue our well-being to the detriment of theirs.
